Visit my exhibit of recent paintings Neither Here Nor There through October 13 on the 9th floor of The University of the Arts Terra Building, 211 S. Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA.
Neither Here Nor There speaks to myths and the ways in which humans create stories and allegories to transfer information. These stories are often altered as they are passed along, whether purposely or accidentally, thus resulting in unique and enigmatic information.
These water color and collage paintings reference a myth about a warning of things to come. The imagery serves as a prelude to the actual warning - depicting the delivery of the message rather than the complete communication. They illustrate the genesis of human beings in their most simplistic state and the messengers of this trans-dimensional forewarning.
Each landscape is a micro or macrocosm of the other paintings, portraying a portion of the other imagery. Due to the fact that time itself is ambiguous, there is no specific reference to past, present, or future, but rather an intrinsic understanding that all things will end and begin again.
